Is the Name Elizabeth Out-Dated or Timeless?

I think it is pretty safe to say that the name Elizabeth (see link for detailed info on meaning, history, popularity, celebrities baby names and more) has been around one heck of a long time.

With roots that take it all the way back to Old Testament, Elizabeth is a name with staying power. For some, the find the appeal of such a historical tame to have a timeless nature to it. It's a name of little babies, teens, and grammies. For them, the name is an eternal classic.

However, for others, the name is something stale, dry, and boring. It lacks a "unique" quality that they long for.

What about you, what are your thoughts on the name Elizabeth?

(1) Sue San says:

We named our daughter Elizabeth back in 1984 because we wanted to honor my grandmother with an E name – vs. Edith, and we loved the name. Baby Elizabeth seemed to like it, too, even if she couldn’t pronounce it for a while. She continued with Elizabeth – no nicknames please, until she was 17…she then became Liz, and remains Liz many years later.
