What I Did:
Our birth announcement really was simple in design. Printed on cardstock with pastel baby feet all over it because we needed something gender neutral. We included our names, the full name of our baby, place of birth, date and time, height and weight. We also inlcuded a newborn photograph in the envelope.
We found 8X11 printable card stock that was perforated into 4 separate cards. It was a very affordable, simple option.
How I Did It:
I really wanted something that would come together quickly (and I am glad I did as I had a c-section with complications). I don't think I could have handled complicated announcements without getting them out sometime after my baby celebrated her first birthday!
We had as much as we could ready before the baby arrived- envelopes were all stamped and addressed, we had the text file all set up to print (all we had to do was fill in the unknown information). Announcements were mailed out the day after we got home from the hospital.
Lessons Learned
- Make sure that the card design you pick matches your patience level and your overall personality. If you can handle a more involved project, GO FOR IT. If you know it will just stress you out, stick with something simple.
- Get as much done as you can before the baby arrives.
